https://www.thestreet.com/automotive/the-longest-lasting-car-models-200k-miles-according-to-consumer-reports Back in the early aughts, conventional folk wisdom (i.e., the author’s dad) said that cars from Japanese automakers Toyota and Honda tended to be among the most reliable and long-lasting. Fast forward two decades or so, and that opinion remains relatively pervasive among auto enthusiasts. But is it true? Well, yes — at least according to research conducted by Consumer Reports. Based on surveys of its members regarding their own vehicles, 11 out of the 12 models that tend to make it past the 200,000-mile mark with the fewest major problems are Toyotas or Hondas. Here is the list (per consumer reports) Toyota Camry Type: Midsize sedan Estimated mpg (new): 32 Overall Consumer Reports score: 88 Toyota Prius Type: Compact hatchback (hybrid) Estimated mpg (new): 51 Overall Consumer Reports score: 80 Honda Accord Type: Midsize sedan Estimated mpg (new): 32 Overall Consumer Reports score: 78 Honda CR-V Type: Compact crossover SUV Estimated mpg (new): 26 Overall Consumer Reports score: 85 Toyota Tacoma Type: Pickup truck Estimated mpg (new): 21 Overall Consumer Reports score: N/A Toyota Tundra Type: Full-size pickup truck Estimated mpg (new): 17 Overall Consumer Reports score: 54 Toyota Corolla Type: Compact sedan, hatchback, or wagon Estimated mpg (new): 36 Overall Consumer Reports score: 75 Honda Odyssey Type: Minivan Estimated mpg (new): 22 Overall Consumer Reports score: 76 Ford F-150 Type: Full-size pickup truck Estimated mpg (new): 19 Overall Consumer Reports score: 63 Toyota 4Runner Type: Mid-size SUV Estimated mpg (new): 17 Overall Consumer Reports score: 63

Maybe not a bad idea. No publicity or acknowledgment, but give a back channel warning to Iran.

What do you think that odds are that these Chinese villagers will be able to get something from the Chinese government? LOL Suspected debris from a Chinese rocket was seen plummeting to the ground over a village in southwest China on Saturday, leaving a trail of bright yellow smoke and sending villagers running, according to videos on Chinese social media and sent to CNN by a local witness. They'll get out of the way under their own power or otherwise, I guess. Reminds me of a recent post here.

@George-K said in Shots fired: Ran over the cop's foot. Really? The passenger is charge with assault. Really? Campagna then allegedly sped away running over the officer’s foot. Methinks they should've said: Campagna then allegedly sped away after allegedly running over the officer’s foot. She sure was able to run fine back to her cop car after that tragic assault on her foot. (It also looks like she started running with her finger on the trigger and accidentally discharged her weapon... normally there would be more shots if it was intentional). And I get why it's dumb... but MAN it would be great if cops were able to shoot out your tires again.

I stopped watching about 25 seconds in... that is just gross and it's hard to watch someone with a mental illness like that.

A good reason to keep them. Does an A-10 really have a "titanium tub" for the pilot to sit in? What kind of hit can it actually take? Can it take a .50 cal explosive or armor piercing round? The A-10 is equipped with a titanium tub – a sort of armored cocoon that envelops the pilot for protection. This feature is officially referred to as the bathtub and is a testament to the aircraft's design, which prioritizes pilot survivability above all else. The bathtub is crafted from titanium armor and is specifically designed to withstand significant impacts, including direct hits from up to 23 mm cannon fire. It's also capable of enduring single strikes from projectiles as large as 57 mm rounds. The robustness of this titanium shield is so remarkable that it accounts for about 6 percent of the A-10's total weight, weighing in at a hefty 1,200 pounds. It can take a hit from a .50 caliber explosive or armor-piercing round, the bathtub's resilience is such that it can indeed withstand rounds of that caliber. The Warthog's cockpit glass is also bulletproof, capable of withstanding up to a 23 mm projectile, which covers the .50 cal rounds you're curious about. This level of protection is crucial, given the A-10's role in close air support missions, where it often flies low and becomes vulnerable to ground fire. The A-10's durability doesn't stop at the bathtub. The entire aircraft is built to survive. It features redundant flight systems, self-sealing fuel tanks, and a structure that allows it to return home even after sustaining considerable damage. This ruggedness has earned the A-10 a legendary status among military aircraft for its ability to take a hit and keep flying. The A-10 Warthog is a flying fortress, designed to bring its pilot home safely from the most perilous situations. The titanium tub is just one of the many features that make the A-10 a true survivor in the skies.
